I would like to provide you with some information about my training, orientation, and current work as a therapist.
I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. After working as a scientist for a couple of years, I decided to return to school and received a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University. I then obtained my Marriage and Family Therapist license (#MFC38241) and certification as a clinical hypnotherapist.
I have worked throughout the mental health system including both in-patient and out-patient health centers such as: Suicide and Crisis Services, The Bill Wilson Center, The Center for Family Development, Wilcox High School, The Sequoia Alcohol and Drug Recovery Center, and The Kaiser Chemical Dependency Recovery Program in Santa Clara, CA.
I am now in private practice in Saratoga, CA.
I currently work with couples, adults, and teens. The focus in my general practice is on aiding clients to connect more deeply with their selves, others, and life processes. I offer hypnotherapy services as a part of or separate from traditional psychotherapy in order to help treat client's compulsive behaviors, past trauma, and other subconscious blocks to living more fully. I am also a skilled intervention specialist who helps individuals and families confront dysfunctional behaviors such as chemical dependency, eating disorders, and untreated mental illness. In addition, I offer substance abuse treatment consultation for other mental health professionals.
I was trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches including cognitive-behavioral methods, object relations theory, positive psychology, mindfulness, experiential technique, and hypnotherapy. I also borrow from and have high regard for Jungian theory, Gorski’s relapse prevention methods, Gottman marital skills, Imago healing work, and 12-Step philosophy. I incorporate techniques throughout your sessions in accordance with your individual needs.
I have particular interest and training in dream interpretation, the Enneagram, Buddhism, and Christianity which will be helpful to certain clients.
