My focus during adult individual therapy is to help clients resolve their presenting problems and then move toward what is possible.
I view individual psychotherapy as a mutually committed, collaborative experience as well as an opportunity to candidly examine, better understand, and learn to resolve problems you face. During this process, many issues, events, and memories are discussed for the purpose of creating positive change.
In my role as psychotherapist, I guide clients to connect more deeply with their true selves and to experience their lives more fully.
I have training and experience treating clients with issues related to ADD / ADHD, self-esteem, shyness / introversion, anxiety, emotional neglect, trauma, childhood abuse, depression, grief, chemical dependency, codependency, and life transitions. I also counsel adult children of chief executives and individuals who grew up in big families.
I incorporate a variety of therapeutic approaches including cognitive-behavioral methods, object relations theory, positive psychology, experiential technique, and hypnotherapy.
I also borrow from and have high regard for Jungian theory, Gottman's relationship skills, Stosny’s compassion-building process, Imago healing work, and Gorski’s relapse prevention methods. I utilize techniques throughout your sessions in accordance with your individual needs.
I honor the beliefs of each client and help each individual to grow within his or her own framework of values. For those who want to have spirituality as a component of their psychotherapy, I am glad to support you in that area.
