Intervention Services

An intervention is a very supportive and compassionate way to get help for a family member or friend who is struggling with alcoholism or addiction.  The goals of an intervention are the following:

  • Help the concerned participants to better understand addiction, gain access to chemical dependency resources, and clarify their feelings and boundaries
  • Break through the addict’s denial by helping him or her to “hit a bottom” while there is still a good chance for recovery
  • Increase the chemically dependent person’s treatment willingness and provide immediate access to addiction treatment for him or her

Intervention_2 Intervention Process:

    •    3 pre-sessions (1 hour each) to prepare for intervention
    •    Support in choosing chemical dependency resources
    •    Intervention session (1-3 hours)
    •    1 post-session (1 hour) for debriefing
    •    Phone support for participants as needed

I have specialized training and experience in issues involving
alcoholism, drug addiction, chemical dependency treatment, ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics), the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), recovery, relapse prevention, and
intervention.

I am trained in and use the approaches of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), client-centered theory, Gorski relapse prevention methods, and 12-Step philosophy when preparing for and conducting an intervention.

Because of the many people and schedules involved in this process, I offer intervention appointments at later times in the evening and on weekend days if needed.
